Default re-doing tint

the 96 accord i bought came with mirror tint that appears to have been done by the previous owner. it was a relatively crappy job so i was wondering if it was possible to take it off. also would the black limo tint that they sell at like auto zone look alright? if not, how much $$ is it to professionally tint a car about 35%?

sorry for the newb questions

I had to laugh at that a little...if it looked like crap cause the previous owner did it, and you are asking if you should do it yourself...I think you should get it done professionally.

at the place im doing mine it will cost me $240 to put it on...someone did it for me for a present and it wasnt dark enough. so i have to pay $320 to take off the tint and put a new one on. the tint film is high performance, not cheap shit that will bubble up.

There are in fact different grades of tint that are stronger than the small rolls sold in store and are thicker too. But, a good tint place shouldn't have problems with any kind of tint if they do in fact know what they are doing, because the high grade tint can bubble just as easy as the kind that any consumer can buy on their own. Another thing to look out for to make sure these people know what they are doing is to make sure they get the tint completely to the edge of the window and not leave a border. If they tell you that they can't get the tint completely to the edge then they have no clue to what they are doing.

Another thing, I don't know where you all are getting tint work done for over $200, but you are getting ripped off. Places here in Philly only charge no more than $160 for the whole car.

I paid about 230 for my tint at 35% all around with lifetime warrenty against bubbleing and peeling. The shop that did mine also did my Truck and my friends car. Like everyone said just make sure you go to a shop that knows what they are doing and see if you can get to look at some of there other work.
