Default radar detector - insurance

ok well i just got my valentine1 and i just started thinking, what if someone steals it? think it would be wise to get it insured? but would that make my insurance go up alot? since they would think i would be speeding alot? what have you guys done about that? or where have you put it so it can't be taken etc.

Lock it in the glovebox. 9/10 places I go, I put my radio face and my detector in the glovebox and lock it.

Go ahead and add it to your insurace...we are only talking like a 15-20 cents a month. They go by points on your driving record, age, type of car, value of car, value of secondary equipment, shit like that...not what type secondary equipment is installed.

there's no great way to keep people from breaking in a stealing it. i just take it down and hide it every time i park - but you can't be lazy about it. you could put it in the glove compartment and lock it, or stick it in the trunk.. but thieves can still get to it. i also don't leave it in the car when i'm at home since i live at an apartment without a garage at college. basically, just take every precaution.

I suggest ( im sure mayonaise will agree with me ) just carrying a small book bag and put everything in there, radio face plate, radar detector, etc............

I wouldnt leave it in the car. The one day you sleep on it is the day they steal it.

yea, i'd agree with you 100%.. except sometimes it's not practical to carry around a bag with you wherever you're going. better than getting it stolen! but i haven't gone that far yet...

i just wanted to say never put it in your glove box and lock it. theives know that most peeps don't take their faceplates out of the car,so they'll break in anyways. the first place they'll try his the glovebox, if it's locked they know something is in it and they will break that open.

..i know from experience.

anyways i wouldn't worry about a radar detector. i doubt many thieves go looking for radar detectors. some may grab it when they are taking your stereo, but i can't see them breaking in simply for a radar detector.
