Fuel Filter
Has anyone here changed the fuel filter in a 5th gen, 4 cylinder? Any tips or suggestions as to how to get it done? From what I can tell its impossible without tearing half the engine bay apart, as well as taking off the crossmember under the car.
Mine is really overdue, and I bought the new filter... now I just gotta go about doing it somehow.
I have a Haynes manual, and they are very brief about it... they make it sound like cake.

Its really not that bad as long as you have the right tools. Get a 14mm crows-foot wrench, set of extension bars, and a universal joint. Make sure you disconnect the fuel lines from the filter before unbolting the filter itself.
thanks, im gonna give it another shot today.....
I believe you're suposed to change it every 25-30,000 miles..... which would put mine overdue by about 75,000 miles.

the 5th gen 4 cylinders are a royal pain in the ass. It is below the master cylinder, mounted to the inside of the fender... and the incomming line is on the bottom, almost totally blocked by a crossmember.
