Default So this Detective calls me yesterday... (update)

Wusup guys, a while back i made this thread
https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...d.php?t=106766
About my stolen car...
We'll the other day a cop calls me up saying they found it, i was like WHAT!?!? cause i really thought it was gone forever... I lost it in November of 2003.... well i got word from the cop that, it was found abandoned in some apartment complex... But check this out... a private towing company towed it and had the car on there lot since December 17th!!?!? And they just never did the research on the car, or contacted anyone or anything?!?! Now keep in mind i'm in Georgia, came from NY, and my car still has on the NY plates and all that, the hell they should have atleast researched the vehicle...... AND!!! these MOFOs tried to hit me off with a $1500 bill?!!?!?! cause the car had been on there lot for so long, i was like hell nah.. i just found out about the car 2 days ago... so i went at it with the owner and he agreed that i will pay only the fee start from 2 days ago...
Well anyway.... I just went to check the car out... Not as bad as i thought it would be... They took the whole center console out, you know my radio and ish like that... they took the back piece of my greddy evo...all my cds, but over all nothing too much... my jdm headlights where still there, my taillights, there was no broken glass or dents or anything, the ex rims and lo pro tires where still there, springs and shocks still there, and my engine was still in that hoe ..... Its weird, i was like they stole my whole car for this?!? i had a second pioneer radio in my trunk and they left that too... ahh whatever..... I still didn't drive the car off the lot for a couple of reason, and i'm gonna ask ya'll for opinions on this...

1) the battery is completely dead, you know like corroded around the +, - areas.... So i need a new battery, you think i can install a new one myself or should i just have it towed to a shop, cause it does need other things like...

2) The greddy evo comes in 3 pieces you know, and they only took the final piece, the part with the muffler... The long pipe is kinda hanging, its not on the ground but I am pretty sure it would scrape if i drove it... So i am looking for a full stock muffler system for a 2dr accord LX 1994 , or is someone is selling the final piece of the evo, holla...

3) These friggin cars are soooo easy to steal.. i'm probably gonna be getting rid of this car regardless.. but anyway, it seems like they jammed a screwdriver into the keyhole and maybe flicked the ignition... so the key hole thing is like kinda busted... how much you think i can get that fixed for and where should i go, think i should just tow the car straight to honda, or what...

well thanks for checking, and wish me luck ya'll
peace

ur in GA so just tie ur exhaust down and drive that bitch home with a new battery. Doesn't greddy sell axle back exhasuts? Just pick one up and put it on. There is no reason u need to pay the yard so much money. Take it home ASAP. When I wrecked my civic I drove that bitch home with the engine broken off the mounts and the exhaust manifold halfway off the block You should be fine with no exhasut on, I'm sure u will still be quieter than soem of the trucks rolling around GA.

If ur worried about the battery just take one from another car u own so you can just take it from the lot and avoid fees.

Shouldn't have left NY, too much crime down south, who am I kinding its cold as hell here, wish I was there. Congrats on getting your car back. Go to Walmart pick up a cheap battery, bring a few wrenches with you to losen the battery terminals, dont worry about the exhaust, drive it back to your house, if you get pulled over just tell the cop what happened, he'll understand. I wouldnt suggest bringing it to the dealer, if you're going to sell it I would bring it to a regular mechanic and tell him to fix what needs to be done in order for you to sell it.

Think i can install the battery myself no problem....?
And what about the steering wheel, or should i say the key hole area, i dont think the key will work, will i need to just jam a screw driver in there and drive it home like a G.....
How much and where can i get that fixed

You can definetly change out the battery, its very basic, you take about a 10mm wrench and losen the terminals, then you will have to remove the bracket with maybe a 12 mm socket. Just make sure you have between 10 and 12mm and you should be fine. About the ignition, they got it to work with a screwdriver, see if you can. If not tow it to a garage or the dealer, but have the dealer just just change out the ignition and take it somewhere else for the rest of the work, you will save a lot in the end. Hope it starts. Good luck.

This thread should help you source any dealer parts you need to fix your car.
