Default Top Speed

Yeah i know its unsafe and all but I tested my Accords top speed. I was unhappy when i wasnt able to get her past 119 Should a 6th gen EX go faster? I was in 4th gear not even redlined and it simply would not go any faster. What is limiting me here? The speedo goes up to 160 so I should at least be able to do 135ish. Any ideas???? What has everyone else hit?

there is a thing called a governor, it restricts the max speed of car by cutting off the fuel to the engine to stay safe.

you would probably be have to do some ECU modifications to go higher.

but the real purpose is to get to 100 not to stay there, because from there, power means nothing.

I've done 115 in for sustained amounts of time, in my 6th gen I4...I still had several thousand RPMs till redline...still had power to do more..

98 EX 4spd AT Coupe:

Stock: Not tested
Helix: 120MPH, would not shutoff, just didn't go any further. (Something like another 1750K until redline, 2000K to estimated fuel cut off)
AEM CAI + DC Header + Helix: 133MPH, I let off because my exit was coming up. (About 5K RPM, woohoo VTEC in 4th?)

Disclaimer: Very late at night, highway with no opposing traffic, "test run", blah blah blah. No one was around me, we all speed, it's a fact of life.
