well, I am new to car mods, just wanna share the experience with anybody who might find it useful. I read A LOT about cai, why its worth it, why it doesn't, possible hydrolocks, lost low-end, ect. Well, I bought mine used from a friend of mine, it already had bypass installed on it. So just for the fun of it, I removed bypass and connected tubes with a piece of rubber hose. Well, it runs with bypass just like without it, I didn't feel any power loss that bypass is blamed for. Second, some people say that intake is noisy, mine is only when you put pedal to the metal. I also did not feel any low-end loss. Actually, my low end is kinda smoother now. You know how you car chokes then you let the clutch out too quick, or not give it enough gas? It does not do it any more. May be free air flow has something to do with it. Anyway, I am happy with my cai. My next thing on the list is dc headers. Question:
can I install header without installing aftermarket exhaust? I don't have money for exhaust right now.

short ram give more power due to heat absortion, just to give you a little helpful advice

 

bypass valves cause you to loose power because all the air taken in through filter is loss cause through the bypass

 

get an AEM V2 and be done with it...short rams are useless :werd:

 

I found that the short ram worked well for me, while I had it. I now have the AEM Cai and love it.
