Hi peeps it's me again with another problem on my 94 accord lx(auto). I've been having a few latley since I went over 250K. My problem concerns a rattling/tapping noise coming from the engine, but only when I hit the gas. It seems to go away when I reach a stable cruising speed. I checked my cat because a friend told me that they tend to rattle after a while but it's solid and tight. This noise only happens when I hit the gas.

Also my ABS fluid box looks as if it was attack by acid I'll try to get a pic of it and post it for all to see.

Please help if you can. It just might save me a load of cash.

I, too, have similar symptoms with a tapping/knocking noise during normal acceleration. Mine occurs more so during the upper rpm just before the gear shift. I have changed plugs, but that only made a slight difference. I have tried different fuels but to no avail. Is it possible the timing is off? I have not read anywhere in my haynes (door stop) manual where to adjust the timing. Otherwise, I'll just replace the next cheapest thing or live with it.

 

i dont know if is this but it can be and this simple. something under the car that needs to be remove. i was having a similar problem, only when step on gas and hardly sometimes while on the move. took it to the mechanich he test drove it with me and he told me the solution is take it off , what is i dont know the name but is something under ur car, take like 3 seconds to remove no especial tools need just a screwdriver. btw he told me this happen to almost every car once pass 60k. hope this ur problem and the noise is just annoying nothing else.

 

You are speaking of the lower heat shield down by the cat area where the exhaust pipe meets the exhaust manifold...it should be every persons first mod to remove that shield on any Honda they get. They are notorious for rattling and its quite annoying.

I am surprised though that yours lasted 250k before coming loose.

 

its a heat shield problem..you can either remove it or tie it down with those metal things plumbers use...if you decide to take it off just don't park on ttall grass
