Default CV joint and Axel

if you replace the axel, do you need to change the cv joint too?

Why would you want to change the axle with out changing the cv/joint?

'Axle' usually refers to the whole thing(both cv joints and the actual shaft in between them)?

An axle has 2 cv boots. If one is totally shot and the other is getting old, then just replace the axle. But to clarify when replacing an axle the cv boots get replaced automatically because they come with the axle.
