Default water leaking into my trunk...any ideas

I've been noticing a wet trunk the last couple of rains. The middle area of the trunk carpet is damp, and...the really weird part...the plastic liner where the trunk latch catches the trunk lid...usually has a puddle of water in it. I can't even imagine where that would come from. The weather stripping around the trunk lid looks good....is there any where else that it could be coming from?

thanks for the help odub. If we all just "got it fixed" everytime....then what would be the point of this forum. If I had the cash lyin around....I would do just that.

First check the obvious things, like the link Justasking gave. Remember, with so many places for it to leak, yours might leak from a completely different place as his.

If you can't figure it out, there's 2 more ways. Either way, open up all that carpet/upholstery stuff in the trunk.

1) Grab a flashlight, climb in the trunk, and give a friend your garden hose.

2) Shake a bunch of talcum power around. Then close the trunk & hose it down. Water leaks will make tracks in the powder as it runs down from the actual leak.

He's always feeling like an ass in his replies if you haven't noticed. But I guess that's okay since he's earned it with his 170 posts. :fawk:

I took all my lights and plate off the trunk, cleaned everything real well, and ran a bead of silicone around everything. So far I think it has worked. We've had a couple of light rains and its dry...but I really need a good hard rain and wind to tell for sure. Thanks for the ideas guys!
