Grounding Kits...Thoughts? What to ground?
I am just wondering you all's opinions on the grounding kits. There is one made by SCO and its only $50. I was looking into it and I was kinda wondering if they are worth it. Right now my electrical system seems to be running like crap. When I turn on my headlights, rear defroster, or heater. My lights dim and the RPM gauge goes up. I am not sure if this is a grounding issue or not but I would kinda like it to stop. :drunk:
And if I were to ground anything...what would I ground?
Anyhoo, here is the LINK to see what I am talking about. Any and all opinions are appreciated.
Thanks

Hyper Ground/ Earthing kit ground points
1) battery to chassis ground (opposite the battery... Also, covers 1 of the big 3)
2) battery to intake manifold
3) intake manifold to opposite side of the engine head (in the front)
4) from the engine head to the tranny
5) from the engine head back to the battery
It's one big daisy chain. 6/8 AWG power wire should suffice...
While you're at it... You might as well address the Big 3 just in case you have dimming lights whenever your bass hits HARD.
1) #1 from above
2) engine to chassis ground
3) alternator to battery cable run
all that info through a search...

are you sure your battery isn't in need of replacement?
Anyways, I never even finished my grounding project, and it seems as though it was a waste of time. I guess maybe if I'd done the entire loop, it would have made the car run smoother, but I wouldn't waste my time. Spend the $50 on a new rear sway or better tires.

Matt
try checking to make sure the contacts on your current ground wires are clean.
If you want to make a kit, use 4 or 8 guage wire, and make sure you solder the connectors using a butane/propane torch. I'd suggest using 8-guage since it's easier to work with...
Don't count on this to make any noticeable improvements of any kind, unless you're replacing bad wires, which you may have.
