Default What kind of battery

I have a 96 accord ex and the battery light just started to flicker on and off. Also the lights started to dim on me, I kind of new that I have to get a new battery soon. But anyway I have looked at optima battery the yellow top is that a good one. Do you guys have any other recommendations on what kind of battery to get.

Battery warning light & your lights are dimming??? Sounds more like an alternator problem.

Put a voltmeter on the battery when the engine's running. Should be about 14.5v. If you turn on all your headlights & fans it should stay about the same. If not, it's your alternator.

Check battery voltage 5 or 10 minutes after you turn off the car. Should be about 12.5v. Then check it again after several hours, or overnight. It should still be 12v or so. If it drops too much your battery isn't good.

You might have both problems, but your descriptions sounds like the alternator...

Yeah...definitely sounds like your alternator to me. DON'T PAY FOR A BRAND NEW ONE IF IT IS! Go buy a remanufactured one off of a website like www.goboom.com or something and have a friend who knows what they're doing install it.

Hope all goes well.
