Default SRS light problem...

Hi, guys. I'm new here and I've got a problem with my 2000 Accord Coupe. With almost 50K on the odo and no mods other than a set of H&R Sport Springs, I've never had a problem with this car until now. My alarm went haywire the other night and tripped the check engine and SRS light. I got the check engine light cleared, and it showed "unknown" or something as the code. The SRS still remains and the dealer wants $85 to get the light reset. This is rediculous, I believe, since I know that all I need is 5 minutes of their time to reset the light. Any idea how to reset this light manually or if anyone else has paid this money to reset the light at the dealer? Thanks guys.

try resetting the ECU on near the pass. side door.

open the passenger door
on the SIDE of the dash is a little door
pull the door off
on the back of the door, there is a diagram
locate (on the diagram) the #13 fuse "CLOCK/BACK UP"
Now locate the 7.5 amp (MAROON) fuse on the fuse panel
pull the fuse out
wait 2 minutes
re-install fuse
reinstall door

resetting the ecu won't clear the SRS light. there is a way to do it involving a paperclip and instructions are somewhere around here. i'll post the link if i can find it.

Hmmm....this is good stuff, guys. If anyone knows where the "paperclip" information is, please post it for me.

You can use bent paper clip or something like this:

*note: this is not the SRS MES connector, but it looks like this, except either grey or green*

1) Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
2) Jump the MES connector with your hand dandy jumper tool.
3) Turn the ignition to ON(II, without starting the car)
4) The SRS indicator light will come on for about 6 seconds and turn off. Remove your tool from the MES connector within 4 seconds of the light turning off.
5) The SRS indicator light will come on again, reconnect your jumper tool within 4 seconds of the light coming on.
6) The SRS indicator light will turn off again, remove the jumper within 4 seconds.
7) The SRS indicator light will signal that the memory has been erased by blinking two times.
8) Turn the ignition OFF and wait ten seconds.

Awesome! I am looking at that exact page right now. Awesome help, guys! Let's hope that I can find this connector in the Accord dash. Anybody seen one on a 2000 Accord Coupe? My wife has taken the car to work right now, but I'll look for it when she gets home. Again, Thanks a million, guys.

OK. When they say "jump" the connector, what do I do? Do I just have to take a paperclip and just pop it into the connector? Do I have to attach it to the battery or anything? With the paperclip, I'm assuming that I'm just bending it to a U shape.

you're correct. just unplug the harness and make a U out of the paperclip. make sure both ends are making contact and you're set. no battery or anything else needed.
