Default Buying '00 EX, Question about the brakes

I found a nice '00 EX V6 (45k miles) at an Acura dealer that I think I'm going to purchase. I took the car for a 30 min. test drive alone. Everything seemed great until the end of the test drive. I hit the brakes pretty hard comming to a stop, and right before it comepletely stopped the front left brake seemed to catch a bit and make small vibration. As I accelereated away, the front left brake was making a "clicking" sound as I drove away. By the time I reached 20 mph it was completely gone. I tried to duplicate the conidtions again, but it took me five more attempts before I could and it did the same thing, slightly catching as I came to a complet stop, and the clicking up to about 20mph.

I told the salesperson about this and he said that they would turn the rotors if it would solve the problem.

My question is: is it just the rotors? The clicking sound makes me wonder if it could be the ABS. I'm not sure. I've experianced warped rotors before, but I'm not sure about this one.

Bottom line: I've been test driving cars for a couple of weeks now and this one was among the best. I would like to buy it but don't want some huge repair billl two weeks later.

Any Ideas??

No the steering wheel isn't really vibrating, at least not that I can remember. Since I would only hear it during the last 10 feet of braking it was hard to make a vibration assessment. If it was only happeneing when I came to a stop, I would feel better, it's that clicking when i pull away that bothers me since I've never experianced that.

is it a car that u really really want. I would prolly recommend to not take the chance and find another car. Better to start with a car that has little no problems then to have any off the bat.

sounds like a CV joint. check your axle and see if the boot is ripped. a CV joint will click when it goes bad. warped rotors will make the steering wheel vibrate at all speeds

If it was a CV joint, wouldn't I hear the clicking allot more, not just occasionally when braking really hard?

After researching this topic to death, it looks like it could be a number of things. CV joints, axel, rotor, pads, etc. I don't think it's the CV joints since the boots are fine. The dealer has offered to turn the front rotors for me, and I'll have them put on some OEM pades too. Of course they don'e want to do the work if I'm not going to buy the car. I think it's a nice gester on their part because they could easily put it back on the lot and sell it to someone else the way it is. So I will tell them to turn the rotors and hopefully that will be it.

3Sides...

enjoy the car.. hopefully the dealer recomm. works. My soon to be ex-wife has a '99 V6 EX-Coupe and she absolutely loves it. Car has a nice interior w/all the goodies and the engine is sweet.

and we just bought my younger daughter a '94 LX last night with 108K miles on it. My other daughter does not have an Accord, she has a really sharp '92 Celica GT.

good luck & enjoy it...
