Default Engine Type - VTEC

I'm new to this forum, or any forum for that matter. I was curious what motor my 99 EX accord 4cyl has and how the VTEC make a difference, I understand the variable camshaft aspect, but when does it really come into play, high RPM's? Thanks for the info. I see a lot of newbie bashing here, we all start somewhere. Thanks

you have the F23 motor which is a 2.3l sohc vtec. I believ its rated at 150hp. The vtec in our engines has two settings for the cams. one is for low rpm and the other is for high. I think the switch over point from low tohigh is ~4000rpm. The VTEC makes a difference all around since it can optimize the engine for low and high rpms.

Actually on your car there is no fixed rpm where vtec engages, it's variable based on throttle position, etc.
