Default Tire Size Qs

How wide of a tire can I go with on a 16x6.5 wheel (stock size is 205/65)?

215/55?
225/55?

Or should I stick with the stock width? I'm not necessarily looking for a Z-rated full-on performance tire--tread life and wet-road traction takes priority (hence, any specific tire I should consider)?

Thanks.

I think that both sizes would fit, but ideally you should go as far as 215 on a 6.5" wide wheel.

i think he can squeeze 225s on their, but if this is on a 4 banger that's not really necessary.

what car is this for?

They're for a '99 LX-V6. To clarify the wheels I'm looking to put tires on are 16x6.5. I'm now leaning towards getting something in a 215/60 size. Any recommendations for tires that offer good tread life and wet traction?

^ok that helps. are you sure the stock size is 205 65 16, cause my parents V6 coupes are 205 60 16. the proper sizing would be to run a 215 55 16 or a 225 50 16 can also be used.

Oops, my fault for not being clear in my original post: The original tire size on my '99 V6 sedan are 205/65/15...I'm looking for tires when I upgrade to 16x6.5 wheels.

That said, I am getting a set of 215/55/16 BF Goodrich Traction TAs mounted on them today.

FYI, the 16" wheels I have are Honda Pilot EX alloys. Should make for an interesting look.
