Were the 04 models the first year that XM was available? And yes, there is a lip style spoiler for the 03-04 Coupes. I have one on my car. List I think was $729, but I got it for $500 when I bought the car.

yea, 04's the first to get XM. man 500 bucks is a lot for a spoiler...i'm guessing aftermarket hasn't started making them yet.

Hey those with 03 6 spds

I hope to be getting a 04 6 spd coupe in a month or two.

Couple a ??'s.

Was your car hard to find? Did you just visit the dealer and they had one on the lot? Was the dealer willing to "deal" or were they pretty firm about MSRP?

I'm just wondering if I will have to get in contact with some dealers early (about a month before I'm ready to buy) so they will have a car available.

One more ? What colors are available for '04?

I know I don't want a silver one (that silver does nothing for me) and I'm not really partial to white.

Thanks

i talked to one of the sales managers at one of the Honda Dealerships near me and he said that the dealerships get 7 of the V6 6spds a year. so i guess take that for what its worth (kinda rare, but able to get nonetheless)

You're talking about the trunk lip spoiler - the decklid spoiler - right? It's $287 for the coupe decklid spoiler ($239 for the sedan) at handa-accessories.com.

By the way, I have a silver 2003 Accord DX sedan, which I've had for about ten months. All I've done to it so far is to replace the steel wheels/plastic hubcaps with OEM alloys from a 2002 Accord V6, which I'm using with winter tires right now. I also have the decklid spoiler, but I still haven't gotten around to putting it on the car! h:

To answer the question about availability, my dealer had 2 04 6-speeds on the lot. Mine and a silver one. He told me that they can order one for every one they sell, so I guess that means that at any given time, my dealer should have 2 on their lot. Im not sure about the color availability, but mine is black, and the other one was silver.

My dealer was very desparate to sell a car that day (Saturday before Christmas) and the salesman basically told me that he'd do anything within reason to sell me a car.

I can tell you one thing, based on my experience buying cars (this was my 2nd brand new car, and 5th overall buying from a dealer). The more you want the car, the tougher they'll be to negotiate. Of course there is always the exception like in my case where the dealer had no sales for the day, but do your research. Go to www.carbuyingtips.com and read the WHOLE article. It has invaluable information. If you walk into the dealer prepared and they know youre a no-nonsense buyer, you should be able to get a good deal.

Sticker on the 04 6-speeds is like $26,900...and I got mine for $24,200 after tax/title/registration.

Yeah, I imagined I paid too much for the spoiler, but it was factored into the price of the car and I knew I was getting a great price anyway, so I didn't care.

Thanks Constrictor. Hope you're enjoying your car.

I know i don't want a silver one. I'm sitting at my desk with a friend and he likes silver, said he would take two of them. He said he doesn't like yellow, orange, or purple. Anyway, I'm partial to the Sapphire blue or the black.

Just talking now getting ready to leave work.

My 03 was incredibly hard to find, since there was only one left in Houston, Tx (and the surrounding Austin/San Antonion areas as well). However, b/c it was an 03, the dealer was very willing to deal. I got my car for $23,500 base AFTER the $490 destination charge and essentially drove out for $25,100. Honda was offering an additionaly $500 dealer incentive for 03's though, so maybe i could've gone even lower on the price. I had to get a white though I wanted a silver (b/c of the black interior), but overall, I'm happy with the beige/black interior with carbon fiber accents.

I'm certain there are plenty of 04's if you have a lot of Honda dealers where you live, b/c I don't really believe too many people buy the Manual V6 model. But also, there aren't too many of them made. The biggest dealership in Houston (who I heard sells around 400 cars a month) only has TWO 04's currently. They are less flexible with the 04 price b/c of the limited supply, but I'm certain it's still possible to get it for a good price still if you:

Know all the pricing details about the car and options (meaning things like tint, dealer installed options, Gap Insurance) and don't let them tack on extra charges to nickel and dime you.

Call around and find the color you want but try to be flexible. Try to find a high volume seller who will want to push the most cars off of their lot and try going toward month end. Offer a realistic drive-out price (I aimed for invoice price + TT&L and any required state imposed fees) and be firm about it.

Dont forget that human beings are lazy! A salesman will be more likely to sell to you for a good price, the price you want, if he doesn't have to work too hard. If you offer a realistic price and be firm about it, telling him that you will buy that car today, he has more incentive to sell to you immediately for that price. Contact the dealers early to see if they have your model available, but don't talk pricing until you're ready to buy.

In terms of color...check www.hondacars.com.

Hope this helps. It's just my opinion, so don't be harsh.

Damn, you may have overpaid for the spoiler, but $24,200 AFTER TT&L is incredible! Nice price!!
