How did you make those fit?
Did you use a spacer or did you just cut the back of the plastic pocket out?

to be quite honest with you, i'm not 100% clear on the fittings because a friend of mine owns a sound store and he did everything. i just told him what i wanted and that was it, he did the rest. I'm running the MB Quart 3-way separate components in the front and 3-way 6x9's in the back through a Pioneer headunit and a 4 channel Precision Power amp.

I run into this all the time. (Someone else did the install.)
I was curious b/c MB's are just larger then a true 6.5"
The also are deep at 2.54" vs. 2" of most others components.

I've been thinking of running MBquart discuss series. 6.5" co-axials and 6x9's but to run them I would have to pull down my rear torsion bars for the trunk. Not sure I'm willing of doing this.
I have a JL 300/4 amp would really love to have speakers worthy of the amp. I have some Pioneer TSG1647 6.5" now (not installed), and some TS6960 in the rear. But at 30w RMS and 40w RMS respectively I can't imagine them lasting long with 75w RMS power. (I've not pulled the door apart yet. only the rear deck.)

Plus some buds of mine said they feel Pioneers get flat sounding as power is increased.

Diamond Audio M5 components.

They were slightly deeper than stock (I think 1/8th"). I made MDF spacers out of 3/4" MDF, and luckily the stock door panel still cleared.

I'm running Infinity Reference 6.5's in my 5th gens doors, probably would fit in yours too. I think they're 180w peak. Sound good with out and amp, but I'm, planning on getting one for my mid's and highs soon.
i got these in my 6th gen(the 605cs's i believe(seperates))...got a ppi amp on them and they sound pretty damn good....matched with the 3way reference 6x9s in the back and an L7 in the trunk....blows me away.

Any mods needed to fit the Infinities?

Hey all, thanks for posting--I'm sure this thread will help other newby system builders of sixth gens now that they are fairly easy to purchase used.

Keep'em coming, I'm taking notes :P

no mods needed, they just barely clear everything, but i put foam baffles in the doors behind the speakers that slightly touch the window when you roll it down so it slows the window slightly when it hits the foam..so minimal clearance, but the foam doesn't hurt the window any

you might want to think about kick panels if you want good speakers since almost any good component set wont fit into the doors. i bought the ones made by qlogic. they fit the car pretty good and you get alot more room, plus the imaging is better so you actually get to hear more of the music.
