Default HELP: oem spoiler installation

Hi all, I wanted to question some of you, particularly you guys that have OEM spoilers or have gotten them with body kits. I'm in position to acquire an OEM spoiler for my 94 LX and I'm curious about the installation. Is it the kind of thing I can do myself or should a professional do it? Also, would it require drilling through the trunk? or would it latch onto the edges of the hatch? I know its a dumb question and I'm 99.99% sure you have to drill, but I need to know if im gonna hafta pay for installation before I buy one. thanks.

It's not the easiest install in the world, and if you screw up, you need a new trunk lid. I seldom stray from DIY, but I'd let the pros handle this one. At least they're insured.

It's actually 5 holes. The 5th one is for the wiring.

i know for the 6th gens, the spoiler comes with a template. it's pretty much self explanatory, but just like the dude above me said ... let the pros handle it.

Hey finally something i have some real experiance with! I too have a 94 accord lx and installed an OEM spoiler on it about a month ago myself. It took a few hours but it wasn't hard at all. Just make sure when you buy it, you get the ENTIRE kit with all the hardware, new trunk shocks, etc.. . My kit didn't come with instructions because for some strange reasons, all of the honda dealerships i talked to said that the instructions for the 94-95 spoiler installation were to "old" to print out (BS to me, i think they just wanted me to pay them to install it). Anyway, I got the instructions for the 96-97 spoiler which is almost the same. You can use those for the drilling and mounting but as for the wiring, you have to improvise like i did. Drilling is not hard but it takes some time. I recommend you get one and DIY. If you have any questions about what the hell the other stuff in the kit is, just ask.

I haven't done very many DIY things yet, but I did my own spoiler install about 2 months ago. It really wasn't that bad, but it took me two nights cause I wanted to let the paint dry overnight on the holes I drilled so that it wouldn't rust. And I think you can get directions at hparts.com for your car.
