Maybe if you want a project car, but if all you want is speed, you get a used 5.0 Mustang, put about $3,000 in to it and you can be running 11's and 12's all day. Or you can get the SRT-4. The new Accord is a very quick car, but by no means is it a speed demon. Its a great daily driver, a very comfortable car to drive in, definitely quick, will have easy upgradability when a turbo/SC comes out, gets great gas mileage, and looks great(IMO).
Most Hondas, in their price class, are among the fastest vehicles. Accord I4, Accord V6, Pilot, MDX, S2000, TL, NSX, TSX, RSX, RSX-S etc etc

If you actually think that comparing a used 5.0 Mustang to an Accord is valid, I don't think there's any sense continuing this discussion. ****ing obviously you can spend your $20,000 and build a 10 second car, but we're talking about new cars here. Name me a better new car that is faster than the I4 Accord and cheaper and matches the reliability and interior and all of those intangibles and objective and subjective crap.

Like I said, not even going there. Just another statement from a non-enthusiast.

In terms of bang for your buck, probably the only import that could remotely stand a chance agains a 5.0L is a DSM. For $5000s, you could buy a mustang and have it in the 12s-11s (w/o nitrous or any kind of FI) consistantly. You'd be hard pressed to get any Honda anywhere near that for that kind of money. If you can find a decent shape DSM, for not that much money you can have them running very quick times. They might not be as cost effective as a 5.0, but they're about as close as you can come with an import.

Umm...just because I said that 5.0 Mustangs are an easy car to make fast? Sorry that I let the BIG SECRET out!!! hnoes: You can buy a 5.0 Mustang and make it fast!!! How does my post have anything else to do with the other, except for the fact that we both mention the easy upgradability of the 5.0 Stang?
