i've been told each 100 pounds you lose off your car, you gain 1/10th of a second in the quarter mile

not sure if it's true or not.... but if it is, you can lose 1,000 pounds and there's a full second gain
Thats a little off because I ran a 17.2 at the track and I pulled out my front passenger seat, jack, spare, trunk carpet, rear seats and floor mats and ran a 16.6. I beileve its every 100 pounds equals 10hp. But thats how I ran a little quicker!

How do u justify doing all that to get a lower time on a 1/4mile in a freaking accord. Dude next time u want to compete go to an autocross where its ur skills that matter and not the cars.

Sorry I'm just not a big fan of drag racing. Especially when it comes to ppl that take their own street cars to a strip.

You can't take out much if u want a comfortable daily driver. Instead of buying a lot of bolt ons just get an exhaust and turbo

Because 1. I enjoy drag racing its fun and your car does not have to be fast to drag race. My car is consitent and as long as it is consitent then I keep winning races. The last season winner drove a 18 second mazda. I do it for enjoyment. Just like you auto-x.
Which they do not have in portland. I have to drive awile to get to any one being held. Whats matter with street cars going to the strip? I know 5 11 second turbo street cars and nightshades 13 second accord street cars. What I do is for pleasure and fun. Its only for the strip as I put everything back in after.

Spending $2200 on an engine, $1000 for someone to do the conversion, and probably having to spend even more on replacing the transmission just to gain 55 horsepower doesn't make sense to me :dunno:

I know you can make the H22 a lot faster by adding more mods to it but come on. If you want speed that bad, spend $3,000 on an older 5.0 camaro or mustang and run 13's instead of swapping an engine in your accord and running 15's...

Flame me if you will but I just can't justify spending that much money for such little gains on a car that will never be respected as a "fast car" even if it had a jet engine strapped to it. People will always mutter "but it's still a honda"

Why even bother posting int his thread if thats your attitude...in fact why not go sell your accord you embarrass Accord owners everywhere with your comments.

Anyways a nice improvement would be clutch and pressure plate as it will allow it to grab faster....even brand new stock replacement clutches allow some slip when they engage because of the way they are built and meant to be used....get a good 6 puck clutch and a Heavy Duty pressure plate.

Very streetable setup and grabs like a champ.

i've actually seen a vid of a 94-95 civic that had NO engine mods and they stripped it down big time and it ran a 14 or something

so anything's possible
BTW the car you are thinking of was the new Sentra SpecV that was done in SCC either late last year or early this year.....not an Accord

he didn't say it was an Accord, he said it was a civic, and he just said stripped, he didn't say cut all to hell like that sentra. That was cool to see though.

I know you have done a ton and have achieved a lot, but you gotta let him have his opinion. You really can't argue that if you want speed, you don't start with an Accord. If you love and Accords and want speed, then sure, mod the Accord and love it. But if speed is your objective, you can't fault him for talking about V8's, even if this is an Accord board.

I spent my money on suspension, wheels, tires, and some looks/comfort stuff. Everyone has different goals/wants.
