Default Aftermarket radio ring keeps falling down :(

When I bought my accord it had a sony cd player in it. It has this ring around it that holds it in the factory location with the little cubby hole underneath.

The ring has these little clips that hold it in place and it will stay in place for a few hours but once I hit a bump it falls down and I have to pull it completely out and reposition it again.

Is there a different kit that holds in better I can pick up or some way to rig it in there so it isn't constantly falling out on me?

Here's a pic that may show what I mean:

Usually the people who install it at shops dont screw the mounting bracket in. The reason for this is it makes it easier for thieves to just pull it out and not break anything behind it. If your kit doesnt have mounts to screw it in go find another one that has one. Should cost around $15. You can also use zip ties or straps to hold it in place when you hit bumps or dips. The downside to it is when a theif decides he wants your HU it might damage other parts to your dash as well. Hope that helps.

I don't see anywhere that could be screwed in. It is just held in by 4 little clips :dunno:

I had that same problem in my other 4g, but that was because it got broken into, and the ****ers broke part of my dash :madfawk:

im not sure if im thinking of the same piece, but if your talking about the trim ring, then that is a sony piece, not part of the dash mounting kit. sometimes they can be tricky and it may just be that your not locking it in properly. look and make sure all the tabs are locked in place. if that doesnt work try ordering another one from Sony. good luck

uh it has nothing to do with the sony head unit

it's a plastic install kit that i'm guessing the previous owner purchased from a local car audio shop that fits the 94 accord :dunno:

i have no clue what you're talking about mate but i guess we're both confused.....

if you look above the radio in the pic you'll see the gap between the radio and the wood trim. the plastic that is connected to the cubby hole under the radio goes up and around the radio. understand ?

mine had a spot to screw in, its behind the dash, its metal, your factory head unit should of been connected to it.

no i'm not talking about the trim ring around the radio.... ugh

let me try again

ok you take out the stock radio and there's a big square hole right? now you want to put an aftermarket radio in.... you put the radio in and wow there's nothing to hold it in that big hole...

so they make install kits that fit your car and hold the radio so it looks good and allows you to change settings/stations without it sliding around on every turn

that actual plastic install kit is what's wrong... the install kit only holds on to the empty square with 4 small triangular clips that snap into place (one on the top of each side and 2 on the bottom)

am i making sense yet or am i still speaking noob?
