Default WHICH PULLEY's TO GET???????

Im considering either AEM alternator and power steering pulley's, or unorthodox underdrive pulleys (including crank pulley) which ones will give me the most gain???

None. Only cause problems and can even reduce your power. If you want more power. Save up for a port and polished head and get your stock cam re-ground and buy a cam gear. Thats what I would do. Otherwise its a waste.

eh, no.

the UR pulleys can cause problems because they remove the harmonic balancer on the crank pulley - okay, I'll give you that, that is bad for the car...and could reduce power by basically ruining it.

the AEM pulleys however, and any pulleys that are ONLY p/s and alternator pulleys....will do no damage. ESPECIALLY the p/s pulley. The alternator pulley could cause horsepower loss only if your electrical system is extremely taxed or performing poorly, otherwise it doesn't really do a heck of a lot to anything.

You'll gain a little horsepower back, but it's really no more than 2-3hp in any dyno test I've ever seen.

As for the former advice, regrinds can cause problems w/o properly upgraded valve springs - unless the regrind is very mild, in which case, a lot of companies will also hard face them, which causes the cam to be weak, and in some cases cause the augmented lobe to break or become damaged from the different metals moving apart. The only "100% safe" way to increase cam profiles is to make or purchase a billet camshaft. Great idea for power increases, but it's no safer than any other mod.

The port and polish, without proper fuel modifications as well as a knowledgable porter, a descently modified engine otherwise, etc, *can* also cause power loss, and problems. An extremely polished head can cause very poor cold starts and other silly stuff, it's all a matter of who does it and why. Also a great mod, but is no more safe.

With any mod though, if done PROPERLY, no problems should ensue other than more wear due to more agressive driving. So yes, those are good suggestions, but it's not something for an amateur to look into without a good knowledgable mentor.

I'm not flaming you 96JDM, just in case you think I am. I'm just stating the "truth". I've been doing this for a good while.

Hey I understand. I do relize you would have to upgrade some fuel mods and work with the motor a little. I was just saying to go that route other then the pulley kit. Basically I just think if the kid wants to mod his car some more, he needs to go internals. If he doesent want to go that route he should stop in my opinion. I dident want to get into details letting him feel like he has a lot to do. I was just directing him towards that area.

Thanks for the clean up though.

number one, im not a kid lol number two, im getting the pulleys now, along with cam gears, quick shifter, aem V2 intake and a few other small mods.... im not planning on going overboard with the mods for this engine cuz im swapping the engine in about a year or sooner. I just want some more power out of the F23 before i swap to an H22........also, do you think an 03 AV6 engine would fit in my 6th gen accord? If so, i may just do that. why mess around with an H22 when the V6 comes with 240hp right out of the box?

Uh...why spend so much money?

I mean, if you're going to get a new engine...those parts aren't transferrable...wouldn't that be a lost cost?

^i'd put $50 on the fact he won't get an H22 swap done. there are so many people that come on here saying they'll get one, but most never do. a 2000 accord is not the best starting point either, if you want a h22 sell the car and buy a lude. a swap is generally not worth it unless you have a junk or motor or tranny.
