I have a civic CX chassis. I put a .020 overbored 0-mile DX motor in my 250lbs-lighter-than-a-DX chassis (because I have NO options or even power steering on my car). It has the 56mm throttle body, DX manifolds, STRAIGHT loud-as-hell exhaust (see my thread from yesterday if you want to hear it), no cat/muffler, cold air intake with K&N, and can't beat a 17.95 at 75mph. I don't have a stereo, speaker box, spare tire or anything else heavy added to it, and ran it with less than an 1/8th of a tank of gas. That was the best of 6 runs, and I was only 1 1/2 car lengths behind a Toyota Celica GT-S when I did it, too.
My stock CX with the muffler chopped off ran a best of 19.98 at 65.52 mph.
Are you sure the 15.9 isn't his 1/8 mile time? A 210 hp Turbo Eclipse runs 15.2's from the factory. There's just no way a DX could do that. A GT mustang runs 15.7's. Many people with turbo'd civics run high 14's.
You should be thrilled if you get on the track for the first time and your civic runs a high 16. When you finally do, it's better for you to worry about getting a good launch and fast/smooth shifts than cutting a good tree. Worry about the tree after you get your car down.
