I have 205/45/16's and the guy at the tire shop called them "low pro" so they must be. I wouldn't say low profile tires are necessarily poorer in the rain. I've heard the Kumho Ecsta 712's are great in the rain. But if you get a "high performance" tire or "ultra high performance" tire, then it is probably crappy in the snow. It probably has to do with the tread pattern.

I had 195/60/14 Yoko AVS-Is before, notice they're not low pro, and they were useless in the snow because they were "ultra high performance" tires. I now have Yoko A520's and I plan on getting winter tires before November.
