Ooo... personal attacks on a moderator, we know how to deal with people like you. So how about you cut the tough man stuff because you don't know anything about me.

Anyways, since you're obviously missing my point: Older engines don't always have all the same plug types or sensors as newer OBD generation engines. Since not everyone has the pin tools for changing plugs without splicing, those sorts of little changes are something that will catch a careful smog official's eye. Even if you're careful enough to solder, shrink tube and re-tape, that new wrapping usually throws up a flag as well.

It's not my fault if you have a fetish with OBD1, it really isn't. In most all smog stations in the country now, OBD2 cars are tested via the diagnostic port. We aren't here to condone or suggest ways to outwit a smog official, I'll leave that solely up to the car owner. "Getting around something easily" doesn't involve swapping ECUs in my opinion, it involves doing it right the first time.

As for imagination, yeah, I'll keep that in mind seeing as how I've built a significant number of engines in the last 3 years, dating from '49 up to an '02.
