rev-match before downshifting.

how do i d that?

would it be really high rpm if i downshift from 3rd to 2nd at 80km/h? would it damage anything, cuz i was trying to turn but then this guy won't let me, so i kinda cut him off and turn at 80km while downshifting to 2nd, i wasn't looking at my revs, but i let out the clutch kinda slow.

thx

to rev-match, push your clutch in, rev to get rpm's up to match the rpm's that will be in the gear you are going to, then shift and let clutch out.

rev matching is a good thing if your quickly going down. Too my understanding as the clutch is pressed in you hit the gas reving your engine to the desired rpm..let the clutch go(not dropping it ) and basically match it.

Just rev-match it, and watch the tach. You will be able to tell if you didn't rev enough, or if you reved too much. It would be better to miss by reving too much that too little.

You're wrong about how to rev-match. If you have your clutch pushed in, the transmission is not engaged and therefore will not spin with the engine while you rev... so it's useless.

To rev-match: Say you're in 3rd. You push the clutch in, put it in neutral, let the clutch out, rev, push the clutch in and put it in 2nd.

This way the transmission spins with the rotation of the engine and is already going to same speed when you put the clutch back in and downshift.

Make sense?

hih
