Just a thought, but could this be the reason all the valve covers on the Y7s corrode so quickly?

That's exactly why. The aluminum valve cover/engine block has a ground wire going to the car's steel chassis causing a galvanic reaction. All you need to do is bolt a zinc block directly to your engine block and it should stop corrosion of your aluminum valve cover.

If this really works then I think I'm gonna do it. I live in a climate that is either damp or always raining and would like a preventitive measure for my car to not rust.

This sounds very interesting, I'll see if I can find a marine/boat store to pick up one of these zinc blocks.. so just ground it to the chasis.. I'll probably store it with the spare tire.. and ground it to the chasis from there.

Does anyone have pics? just to get an idea for everyone

For how long do I have to keep the zinc block in the car? All winter or just a few days, weeks.... And I can ground the wire to any part of the body, right? Vey usefull stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rockon:

Forever. It will only help prevent rust while still attached.

FWIW, I've been meaning to do this to my car, I've just been too lazy to do it.
