turbo y8 cooling problems
i have a 98 turbo ex, which runs very hot, i cant keep it cool. i have a after market radiator 1.25 in. thick and i still over heat.i even wired my fan to be on all the time. would taking out the thermostat help? or that stuff you add in to the antifreeze ? or even a electric water pump ? any info would help thanks.
You could try an oil cooler. Oil also participates in cooling the engine so the cooler it is, the more cooling it can do while running through your engine and since you're running oil through your turbo... it's hotter than usual.
SleeperCivicEX is a '99 turbo Y8 and he has problems too. We've done everything short of replace the water pump and get an oil cooler.
He's running a Fluidyne, FAL fan, cut thermostat and new temp sensor. We're kinda baffled about it, but think that it may be the water pump.
An oil cooler can never hurt.

yo SLEEPER you and me have the same problem. the company BE COOL has a high flow thermostat i wonder if that would work? or even take it out completely. has any one ever done that? i really dont wanna get a new water pump b/c they run about 350 $.
An OEM water pump is not $350. I got one for my brother's D15B7 for like ~$40 FROM HONDA.
Sleeper has removed his thermostat.. you have to cut out the center, you can't just remove the whole thing because it also acts as a gasket

Try adding some redline water wetter to your coolant, it really helps. I tested about 30 degrees cooler with the OBD2 reader after i put it in. Or just get a bigger front mount
