Default wheel/tire combo ?s

Is the overall diameter of a 17 inch rim with a 40 series tire mounted the same overall diameter of a 16 inch rim with 45 series tires mounted on it?

How about 15s with 50s, or 55s?

im just very curious, cuz i hate my rims; wanna switch with imitation rays without change in overall ride height.

Is 600 too steep for 16 inch rotas with 205/45/16 ecsta supras? thats how much my local import shop wants...

Thanks everyone:thumbup:

Yeah I agree 600 sounds like a smoking deal. You should definatly buy them for that price.

I can't tell you exactly without a full tire size, including the width. Regardless, it will be fairly close.

yeah for a civic you're going to want 205/40/17, 205/45/16, or 205/40/17 to keep the the speedo as close to accurate as possible. most civics w/ 205+ width tires will rub, so you should stick w/ 205

Ok, given a stock tire size of 185/60R14:

a 205/40R17 will make your speedo run 3.2% too low.
a 205/45R16 will make your speedo run 2.3% too low.

If you can squeeze in a 215/40R16 it would be 0.1% too low, if that size exists.
A 205/35R17 would be 0.4% too fast, again if it exists.

I am using the tire size calculator at miata.net, it is a very useful tool, however it lets you come up with some weird or non-existant tire sizes once in a while.

My 98 EX has 185/65/14, don't know that I've seen a 185/60 in a long while.

To keep the same ride height I would follow these known PLUS sizes for a stock 185/65/14 size tire. Note: other sizes will fit but these are the closest matches ( to keep your speedo accurate)

15 inch - 195/55
16 inch - 205/45
17 inch - 205/40

I used www.tirerack.com to check out the plus sizing for my civic.

I'm running 205/45/16's
