Default b20 vtec question

is it possible to build an efficient b20 vtec using a lower vtec engagement and certain cams?... how would that work?

several things.. thanks for asking

i probably used the wrong word tho...

anyways.. i want an engine that will produce good numbers and good times... but also dont want it to break down.. i remember an ls/vtec thread and there was a guy (cant remember who but he knows who he is) who knew alot about ls/vtec and how it sucks because of the rod/stroke ratio or something like that.. heh dont expect me to ever know the full story .. and he posted a link to a site that explained it very well too... well im wondering if there is any sort of problems like that with this setup and also if its possible to tune the setup to run lets say low 13s on pump gas.. daily driver too h:

edit: oh by the way the reason i stated the thing about the cams is because i always thought that b20 vtec was inefficient due to the fact that vtec is for high rpms and the b20 isnt really an f1 motor

if you want a "reliable" lsvtec or b20vtec setup. you can get a gsr engine (b18c1) and put an ls crank and rods in it. that way you have the b18c1's block girdle and oiling components. with upgraded rod bolts or new rods you can rev to 8k fine. you can bore it out to 84mm if you want.

Wow, I just looked it up. The B18A/B, B20B/Z and the B18C all have 181.50mm deck heights... very nice. I always thought the B18C had a deck a few mm's shorter.

the b16 has the shorter deck height by 7mm

172.50mm, to be exact. So, 9mm according to the speadsheet I'm reading.

I always thought the B18C fell between the B18A pattern and B16A pattern blocks.:cheers:
