its a problem with the sway. A tie bar is actually designed to reinforce that area, but really has nothing to do with swaybar tear-out.

A guy in one of my classes who've I'm been talking to for a week or two (talking as in he's air force reserve, and we've been talking military and stuff) and he started talkin about cars yesterday. He's really in 1st & 2nd gen RX-7's and racing them, and whatnot. I mentioned my car, and the problem of the tearout and how I had to go out and find someone to reweld it.

He paused.... the conversation went something like this:

"You uh, need that rewelded?"

'yea'

"I could do it, I'll have to get you my card. I have a side buisness that specializes in race cars and making things work. I've got a few different welding machines"

"That would be awsome - here's what I'd like to do..... blah blah blah 1/4" plate steel reinforcement blah blah blah... "

"Yea, how bad is the tear out?"

"blah blah blah a couple inches long, about 1/4"-1/2" pull gap.

"Yea, I could do that. We'd have to put it up on the lift. here's my info, I've got a reserve weekend this weekend, but gimme a call early next week and we'll get it done. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes of actual weld time. Since I know you already I won't charge you for any of the actualy planning time."

Talked to him later that day, and he charges $30 an hour for labor. He's not gonna charge for any of the planning time to figure out exactly how he's going to approach it, and he thinks only about 20 min of actualy welding time.

I'm gonna throw in some more time for tapping and reinstallation of the sway bar, and any unexpeceted problems... It'll still be less than 2 hours of labor.

$30-60 I get it fixed, and reinforced

thats an awesome hook-up. hope all goes well with it. for anybody else thinking about putting on a ITR rear sway, i'd suggest the beaks kit like the other people have already. the reinforcement pieces are actually quite beefy compared to the pictures they have on their website. i have it for my car and took less then an hour to install.

Will the:

Comptech Rear Sway/tie bar combo
Suspension Techniques Sway/tie bar combo

Do the same thing?????

I heard the combo will remove the risk of subframe tearing.....

Is this Correct?
