Default d16y8?

should I buy a d16y8 engine for 600 dollars with wiring harness and ecu? It has 92,000 miles and the guy who owns it says that it runs great. I was going to but a b17 but once I looked at everything else I was going to have to do I decided to go d powered. What are some upsides to the y8 and is this a good deal, also will my cx tranny bolt up to the y8 and what other modifications would have to be done? Also Honda dealerships are such scam artists I just had to pay $8 and wait till tuesday to get a lower control arm bolt, mine snapped in half while I was driving so I am pissed.

Dunno bout the price, but are you sure you want to put a lot of money into a D16? Buy at least a B16, I have the D16Y8 in my car right now, and its just not that good IMO, even with bolt ons (though if you throw enough money at it, I am sure it will work just fine). I think if you search hard enough, you can find an engine fairly priced. I think your car is OBDI, so that may make it a bit cheaper than if you had to find an OBDII B16 (If I am wrong, somebody correct me). A good place to start is www.hmotorsonline.com. Hope this helps!!

I would go with the D16y8. It is an underated engine. It has a lot of promise. I agree that in your light Cx even the 127hp is gonna feel fast. You can do bolt ons and a cam and you would be good to go.

or B1, i like my boosted D16 i beat most hybrids in it. If you stuck 170-200 whp and equal ammounts of torque in a light hatch you'd be mid-low 13's easy. I made 176/173 too bad my 00 ex coupe is freaking heavy
