Default Bad Compressor! $1100

So they dealer says the compressor on a 2000 Civic (EX) has gone bad and needs to be replaced. And they quoted it at $1100.

Is that too much?

Anyone recommend just buying the compressor off Ebay for $200 and doing a self install? Or maybe even have a Honda/Acura mechanic do it?

Ask your dealer, some auto manufacturers extended the warranty on AC systems past the regular vehicle warranty.

Just a thought.
You could also try a junk yard. They might be a bit cheaper.

not too hard to DIY, but who needs A/C? Chuck it! :exnbp:

:edit: the dealer is ripping you off. That is a rediculous quote.

USED ONE! :WOOT: and you'll feel way more confident and proud when you're done, it's a nice feeling.

That's rediculous. I have an extra first gen B16A compressor and a compressor off a 1993 EX Coupe. You can find one easy and it's so simple to replace then just pay someone to charge the system after the install or you can even charge it yourself if your old enough to buy freon (sic)
