Carbon Fiber hood without pins? Safe?
yeah i'd definitely hood pin it...a little extra added insurance ya know
I kind of wanted a CF hood, but I just dont think one would look good on a black car. I like the way they sit on white, or blue, or yellow, but my black just doesnt seem like the place for one.

The stock hood isnt really that heavy anyways is it?
if you are worried about looks, but want the added safety, just get the pins anodized black at a paintball shop. I would recomend hood pins regardless of whether they look stupid or not. You have to realize that your stock latch system was designed for a hood that weighs damn near 60-70lbs. And, depending on the material of the subframe of the hood, for instance mine is fiberglass, it may not withstand as much pressure as the stock hood would seeing as how it's made of metal. I don't know...it's food for thought.
IMO, get em. Don't take the risk. Hoods and windshields are too damn expensive to replace.

I see all these cars without hood pins on a carbon fiber hood. I was just wondering if that was actually safe. What brand hood can you get without needing hood pins? I would like to run without pins, but if I have a good chance of my hood flying up at high speeds, ill put some pins on. Any info would be great.
Thanks.
