Default Headers?

Question?
Which header is for a 96 Civic Ex? I've heard 4-2-1 and 4-1. Which one is it? Also, is there a diff between ceramic and chromed ones or is it just for looks? What can I expect from a bolt on header with intake?

Thanks
for the education:thumbup:

you can get either. it depends where you want the gains, high end or low end. the ceramic coated are for heat and the chrome are for looks. you can expect minimal gains of maybe 4-6 hp for those bolt ons. :bigok:

What headers are not bolt ons? You take out old one, put in new one...they bolt right on, so how can you not have a non-bolt on header?

I would go with a DC Sport 4-2-1 2 Piece, the reason I say 2 piece is that it will be much easier to install rather then the one piece. I have one on my car and it is pretty nice especially since I got my High Flow converter installed today.

generally speaking 4-2-1 is for low to mid range. 4-1 is high. ceramic helps retain heat but tends to crack after awhile. ss prevents rust, and does turn goldish/purple due to the heat.

"Bolt on" in this case means it is a direct replacement.

I'll give you a couple examples involving an '87 Civic Standard.

1) DC Sports 84-87 header onto a STD engine. You have to replace the oil pan with an Si oil pan for it to fit, thus it is not as easy as bolting on the header.

2) DC Sports B-series header (any) onto a B-swapped STD body. There is no way that it will just bolt in, the exhaust has to be custom modified for it to fit.

The same principle applies to other header/chassis combos. Some will directly "bolt on," while others take a little more work for them to fit.
