Default 2000 Civic EX short shifter

My brother has a 2000 EX, and he got a short shifter for it. We got it installed and linked up, and we noticed that if we hung the exhaust like it's supposed to be, the short shifter would not have enough room to shift. I was thinking maybe a longer hanger would fix that problem. I was just wondering if anyone else with the same car has done a short shifter, and if you had the same problem, and what you did to fix it. Thanks a lot.

Default Same Problem

I have a 1999 Honda Civic Ex and had the same problem. I did not fix it b/c I figured the reason it did not fit was that it was a $50 APC POS. I just returned it and have not bought another one yet.

i had the same problem when i installed my no name short shifter, problem solved when i got my greddy cat-back, it hung lower. so it might help if you get longer hangers. all short shifters will hit a stock exhuast.

Not true. When I installed my short shifter I already had a Greddy Cat-back on it did not hang that much lower, Getting longer hangers will not work, my dad is a mechanic and he said that having it will not help at all b/c it is still hooked to the header. The header is not going to hang any lower if you have longer hangers.

thats weird. goes to show not all cars are built exactly the same. but you can get the exhaust to hang lower from the cat to the back, it flexs a lil there cause of the bolts used to attach the cat to the header has springs on it. i would just take it to a muffler shop and see what they can do and get second opinons on what to do if the shifter hitting on the exhuast gets too annoying.
