but then you can't really see cuz of the shifter. and it's inconvenient having to look down there. much better right in front of ur face dontcha think?

the best way to do that is with a fold out screen.

~$1500

don't forget it's illegal in most places to have video in view of the driver while the car is moving...if it's down by the shifter cops won't be able to see it when you drive.

i have a flip out in my dash where the head unit used to be, i relocated the head unit to the cup holder din with ease. it actually is supposed to be there in a stock dx i think... but anyway, make sure you buy a quality screen and not an ebay speacial. i was talking to some installers at my local rice shop and they dont do LCD screen installs cuz the shitty ones break so easy. do yourself the favor and buy the nice alpine 7in flipout.

oh....the ac controls are not mechanical, but the lever that controls the hot/cold is. i tried taking it out and relocating it to put my afc/turbo timer/boost controller up there, but i couldn't figgure out how to relocate those lever controls. so what i did is relocate the stereo to behind the cupholders and used the empty space on my dash for all the stuff. works out well.

anything you can think of has probably been done before
i remember seeing this picture online so i grabbed if for you

its a little harder to do in the 96-98's cuz of the climate control setup, but one thing i have seen only once is a technique that people rarely think of. in japan the 96-up civics have optional navigation, it goes in the same area as the climate control, i believe it is a 6" screen...if you can find one of these oem parts and use it for your own purposes i think that would be cool......sorta
