Default Seized Engine I Think

Ok heres the deal, driving down the freeway car shuts down, will not start agian. There was smoke coming from the drivers side of the engine and there was no oil in the car. I think the engine has seized. Is there any way that you can fix a seized engine or any other ideas about the car. Engine type was a D15B7.

Thanks
Dave

There's really no reason to fix a D15B7... you can replace it for prolly less than it would cost to fix the problem.

Most likely, you'd have to resleeve the cylinder that seized and the piston/rings for that piston. That's if just one welded itself in place. It could have bent a rod, your crank.. etc.

It's hard to say, but honestly, sounds like time for a swap for you.

How can I tell if the engine has actually seized. What are some of the signs of a seized engine.

Thanks

You can get a used B7 for like 100 bucks. They're not worth the dirt they should be burried in.

Try turning the crank by hand at the crank pulley. If it doesn't move it's most likely seized. The only other way is to take it apart and see what the problem is. I'd love to do it for you, I like to see internal destruction.. haaha.. it looks cool. But, sorry your motor is f'd up.

Seriously, just replace the block. You'll have to take the motor apart to figure out the problem anyway. :dunno:
