Default Dim Headlights

My headlights are really dim/yellow on low beam. They are brand new Sylvanias. The high beam indicator light in the panel slightly lights up too. When I switch to high beam, the indicator light is fully illuminated, and the high beams look like normal headlights should look as far as brightness goes...What could cause this?

I have the Hayne's Manual and have looked at the wiring diagram, but im not very good with electronics. My dad said it could possibly be the ground. I see the "pigtail" of wires that is connected to the lights, where does these wires go so I can check the ground?

sounds like wires are crossed a little or something. i would take one bulb out and see if the other one lights up normally.

did your headlights use to be brighter? are they dimmer than other civics out there? civic headlights arent all that bright to begin with, though they're better than alot of cars out there. have u tried aiming them? maybe theyre just pointing down

I had the same problem, and it was the result of wiring, two wires were crossed I think, but I just went through all the wires and troubleshooted from there. I would check the bulbs too. Good luck!

sounds like you alternator is going bad to me, or maybe your stereo system is draining all power.

don't have a stereo system, just an aftermarket stereo. They have always been dim, its just I didnt really care until recently. The guy that had it before tried to "****** rig" a lot of the wiring. All the fuses are good, and I can't trace the wires because they are covered with that plastic sleave. I followed it back to the socket that connects it to alternator and from what I can tell, it looks fine.

How much do you think it would cost for the dealer to look at them?

I have tried 2 sets of bulbs. Sylvania and Sylvania XTRA VISION.

So they're dim even with stock or other bulbs?
