Default Intermittent wiper upgrade - 5th gen hatch

My wiper switch is getting all wonky. I'm currently holding it in place with a rubber band.

Since I'm the junkyard scavenger-type... I'd like to know what it takes to upgrade my cheezy CX 2-speed wipers to intermittent wipers? What parts do I need to get? What cars can I get them from?

I'd imagine almost any civic from 92-95 would have the same parts, but I don't know for sure. If other years before or beyond 5th gen, or other models like accords, etc., use the same parts, then that would also be nice to know because availablilty of civics in my local junkyards is usually pretty bleak.

If anyone's become frustrated with their non-intermittent wipered civic and upgraded it, I'd love to hear all about it.

I wonder if the timer relay is in the switch assembly or if it uses a seperate relay somewhere else? I hope the motor assemblies are the same.

Thanks, that's what I thought...

I'm going to read over the Haynes manual today since lightning blew my cable TV, internet access, and telephones out last night. I should have lots of time to read. It's times like these I wish I had the HELMS manual, though. Haynes isn't good for the people who want to bolt pieces of 5 other car models into the wrong chassis, but it's a start.

Good news!

You don't have to change out the wiper motor. I called a local Honda dealer, and the part number is the same for DX/CX/VX/LX/HX/EX/Si. What makes them intermittent is just the switch and maybe a relay... I'm still checking on the relay part to see if it's integrated. The dealer won't help me any further because what I'm doing is a hack and not a stock setup. So what! The car's 12 years old!
