Dude, airbags will save your life. Personal experience man. I would have been dead if I hadn't been wearing my seatbelt, and airbags hadn't popped out. Instead walked away with a broken arm (upper part). And 7 count-em 7 sliced tendons. Pretty F'ed up. Don't I can recover than your car can.

My airbags didn't do one little bit of good. I didn't touch mine at all, and my friend only got hit in the face by his. There was no need at all for them to have deployed.

but had you needed them, they would have been there to keep you from bashing your head on the wheel/dash/whatever parts were loosened by the crash.... Airbags save WAY more injuries than the few that they actually cause... and injuries caused by airbags are almost always very minor, or due to not using a seatbelt. Just because you didn't need them to deploy this time doesn't mean theyre worthless. Airbags save lives. 'k I'm done.

I make sure that everyone in my car is wearing a seat belt. My airbag would seem quite useless to me in a head on accident. It was the same size as my steering wheel, and didn't look like it would have done much good.

Believe me... Lots of R&D goes into making sure they do some good. they make a bigger difference in harder collisions, which is why their effects weren't major in your crash... But theyre there for a reason, and they do their job well.
