Default JDM Headlights

I've never taken my headlights off of my car before so I don't know. Can I take the lights apart and epoxy a reflector on the inside of the light like the late model 6th gens? I want to get JDM lights but I don't want any hassle from the police, so I figure if I can do this, then I'll get them. If not, I'll just stay with stock. Also, can I simply put 99-'00 headlights on my 97?

Below is a pic of the style headlight with the reflector I want to copy.

what are you talking about? The JDM Headlamps shouldn't be illegal at all. Just get them. They have a daytime running light and clear corner... they're fine.

Damn, I guess you're right. I just looked up the CA vehicle code laws. Thanks.

JDM headlights are not legal on the road. For one reason the beam pattern is designed for a car that drives on the left side of the road, and second they are not DOT approved.

Both of these reasons aren't a big deal because I see perfectly fine if not better with JDM headlights.

Most cops can't tell if the headlights have been swapped. I've had my headlights for over 2 1/2 years I pass inspection no problem, and I'm never even asked about my headlights.

Get the JDM headlights they are fine.
Also they do not have day time running lights, just courtesy lights and regular bulbs. Canadian civic's may have the day timing running light option.

Okay, another question then. I found some DOT approved JDM "style" headlights. I would rather get something that I won't get a ticket for, but I'm a bit wary of the quality. Does anybody here have HIGH QUALITY, LEGAL knock-offs that they are happy with? I don't want anything on my car to be iffy.
