Did they wire the VX different than the DX?

My tach works fine and I tapped into the wiring that goes into the cluster.

Could it be cruise control? I really have no idea though...

I have a 98dx and it had no tach, then i got a cluster from a 96 ex and plugged it right into the same wiring as the old cluster and it works fine...
