that blue wire COULD be coming from the alternator, he's showing a shock tower mount. Which does kinda look like a distributor plug, if that's what you were thinking.

Wiring diagram for OBD1 teg, that blue wire would be "alternator output signal"

do with the info what you will.

Tach signal, sounds reasonable to me. Is the VX like the DX no tach in the gauge cluster? That would explain it...

no he is right.. it has something to do with the tach signal.. i heard the same thing.. i was going to post earlier..cause i knew what you were talking about without the picture.. i forget what it is.. and YES there is a SMALL chance i am WAY wrong.. but i was told it is tach signal.. maybe diagnostics??? ability to see revs while under the hood? just a wild guess.. but im pretty sure something with rpms signal...

If it's just a plug that doesn't go anyplace, it's an underhood tach connector for maintenance.

I pluged my aux tach into my tach signal wire...it looked exactly like that, but im a 97 dx so it could be different...

looking at the wire that comess form the Dist its the same color blue with some markings. I wonder if i could use that for a dyno day for a more accurate reading of my tach??

its just another tach signal wire. i tap into that wire for my autometer shift light. works very well. and yes im pretty sure its used for maintenance.
