I've got your doodoo B16A right here . I'm so sick of this B18 is better than B16A crap. When I am done with my SOHC VX, I will be able to spank a Type-R just for starters. If you plan correctly and buy the right parts a SOHC VTEC can be just as fast a DOHC VTEC. Yes the DOHC motor will have a higher ceiling of power but that ceiling is very high so I doubt you will get that crazy with it. Look up all motor SOHC Honda's and you will see. I'm looking at about 200HP from my brand spanking newly built SOHC D16Z6. With the weight of my stripped VX I should be able run soem pretty goos times. I'm hoping for 13's for starters. Then I'll see about a different cam and some really serious valve train parts. I'm making my own gude head package. We'll see, this could blow up in my face but I've always wondered what a SOHC VTEC could really do.

IMO d motors are good and reliable and all but they have LONG gears and low stock power. b series have shorts ratios and have ALOT more potential for power, if i were you i would go DOHC. DOHC non-vtecs pull verrrrrrry nice, they will also plant you in your seat. BTW please dont turn into a NOS junkie if thats is the rout you are choosing to take.

ECU-wise we can help you make that SOHC pull like a DOHC. We've had a little DX beat even GSRs on the streets...all bolt-ons. Gas mileage sucked though....but the look on the guys faces when they saw the DX motor that beat their might DOHC VTECs was priceless
