my parents are idiots and got ripped off by the ***** ass car salesman. the car was originally on lease but my parents decided to buy it for my sister but my sister moved to N.Y - so i had to take over the payments because my parents couldn't afford it. i calculated it and the whole thing will be a 7 year payoff of $300/month. i still owe $11,000 and i will be paying $27-28g'z for a 98 4door civic ex automatic that i didnt even want in the first place.
i was hoping to sell the car for at least $10g'z, and then paying off the car and getting a 96 hatch for $5,000. i thought it was a good plan but some of my friends are saying otherwise. any adivce or opinions?
thanks for the info on the hatch and the help.
OWNED!!!

I say really consider how into the hatch and the financial dedication for the build up before you switch cars.

in 96-97 you could only open the hatch from inside the car. in 98 they switch to the handel in the trim around the LP. um i think the dx may had different shaped speaker grills. i got the rear deck thing from a dx to put in my cx and it did not fit at all. different wings on teh cx and dx. oh dx come with back speakers too.
nice job

Default salvaged si

thanks for the info peeps.
i talked to my parents and they told me they would loan me a couple g'z - so now im thinkin of gettin a 99 Civic Si. i was lookin through the internet and saw that there are a lot of salvaged ones for around 8-10g'z. almost all of them claim that it was a theft recovery. are these worth getting? and how do i know if they are lying about being a stolen car when it was really crashed and totaled?

salvaged cant be insured can it?

its only like 2-3k more proly for a real 99 si right?

you can carfax them, major accidents will be reported on there. i dont think i will ever buy a salvage unless its for a frankenstein.

the 96-98 dx is a 1.5l sohc motor, therefore its a d15y7 get it; d 1.5 y 7
yeah well im looking for one of those theyre sweet as long as you scrap the junk under the hood. you buy a 6g hatch for the body anyone who attempts to "tune" a d15 should be shot and then have their 2fast 2furious movie tickets taken from them and ripped up. i hate when good stuff gets wasted on schmucks

umm justindocherty the engines in a 96-00 civic are d16y5, d16y7, or d16y8. unless you have an si then you are looking at the b16a2. there isn't any d15 in 6th gen civics
