hood, fenders, headlights, tailights, grill, bumper, and climate controls. and there is a big diff in the climate controls, and i absolutely _hate_ the way the first half of 6th gen civics contorls work.

other than that..pretty much the same car.

look out man 96-98 headlights blow and well the tails aren't the best either. also like stated the climate control is a push switch instead of knobs. the only other different thing I think are the seat material maybe. anything else?

oh and I'm imagining your building this car up so don't worry about miles on the engine or suspension cause all of that will be replaced anyway.

i like my sedan but it is auto. so i was going to sell it and buy a stick hatch. but i dont know if it's worth all the trouble.
my parents are idiots and got ripped off by the ***** ass car salesman. the car was originally on lease but my parents decided to buy it for my sister but my sister moved to N.Y - so i had to take over the payments because my parents couldn't afford it. i calculated it and the whole thing will be a 7 year payoff of $300/month. i still owe $11,000 and i will be paying $27-28g'z for a 98 4door civic ex automatic that i didnt even want in the first place.
i was hoping to sell the car for at least $10g'z, and then paying off the car and getting a 96 hatch for $5,000. i thought it was a good plan but some of my friends are saying otherwise. any adivce or opinions?
thanks for the info on the hatch and the help.

these are good for crazy miles. i'm daily driving my 98 cx w/ 205K on it in 96-97 you could only open the hatch from inside the car. in 98 they switch to the handel in the trim around the LP. um i think the dx may had different shaped speaker grills. i got the rear deck thing from a dx to put in my cx and it did not fit at all. different wings on teh cx and dx. oh dx come with back speakers too.

are you sure about the power steering? My 96 DX coupe does not have power steering. Maybe it's different with the hatch, but I don't see why it would be, it's all DX.
heh, oh well. It doesn't matter, power steering sucks anyways.

all in all, after buying my 97 hatch. i think its a peice of sh*t. it is 5spd, but no power steering is a b*tch late at night when you hardly have the energy to move. not to mention having to manually roll down the windows, lock the doors, and occasionally adjust your mirrors because some punk was messin with them its all good, with a lot of time and money i will grow to love this car. aight, peace.

yeah, the interior between the 98 and 99 is a bit different, at least in the hatch. i like the info about the handle inside the hatch, thats kinda cool.
