Default Air Box

I have a factory ait intake on my 2000 Si and i was wondering what the point of the box located below the the filter box is, it is not even connected to the ait box but it still has a tube comming of it. you cant even see it unless you get under the car and it is pretty good size and it is white.

:edit:

That stuff is there to keep your intake quiet and to help slim the chances of you sucking water into your motor.

Sounds like the resonator to me. Take it all out and drop a K&N drop-in in.

drop ins are such a waste of money. dyno proven. gains of only .5hp for 30-60 bux. just get an intake of ebay, at least you will get at least 4hp on your SI.
