Default engine replacement

Ok I threw a rod bearing in the EX.

I am having troubles finding a replacement d16z6, and one place told me they had a d15b vtec that would work in its place, but I am not sure that it will.

I need this to be a very straight forward simple swap, with no modification. I just want the car to run again and run well, so that I can finish the sale of it and move on to the next car.

If anyone knows the real truths behind all this let me know.

Thanks.

Any D-series motor should fit in your car with no modifications. Although, you may hurt its resale value if you substitute a USDM D15B(?). So unless the shop has a JDM D15B, I'd still try and find another D16Z6.

::Thinks for a moment::

Unless there's a USDM D15 that *doesn't* suck that I'm forgetting...

yeah ive heard they all suck, im kinda screwed now anyways, as I just found out that the people i thought would throw me a loan, will not.

So now i dont know what im gonna do, I still owe on the car and cant sell it for enough to pay it off and I have to cover it fully insured too.

D16Z6's are dirt cheap, they're under $1K. Honestly I wouldn't pay more than $500 for a complete D16

You can't use just any D series motor with that ECU. If you get a NonVTEC motor (D15B7), you'll have to change the ECU to match the motor.

my wallet says that $500 is hella expensive, considering there is a whopping $4 in there now.

As far as I know (anyone correct me if I'm wrong...) the JDM D15B should require no modifications other than maybe a new ECU.

I bought my Z6 from a friend. They're cheap when sold by people that have done B-series swaps and just have their old Z6 sitting around. If I was offered a D15B for a good price...I'd take it.
