Default Interior dome light

My interior dome light does not work when I open my door. It works when i turn it on manually though. The interior light fuse isn't burned out. Does anyone have any idea why it doesn't work?

Does it work when you open any of the other doors?

I ask that cause if it does, then it could just be the switch on your driver door. h:

Let me guess....you changed your factory deck for an aftermarket stereo, and now the dome light only works when you manually turn it on and off

Ok I think I know the problem. I had the same when I changed my head unit. Believe it or not, the dome light was run through the factory head unit. You have to cut and crimp two wires together to get them to work. I'll call crutchfield and find out which wires again.

Its in the radio harness, I did a system for one of my freind in her 99 civic and her light work. We used a Walmart wiring harness. Try that. I have heard that it was to do with keyless entry. but im not sure.

Ok, I think you have the same year as mine so you should have keyless entry. Just got off the phone with Crutchfield. Pull out the HU and on the Factory part of the harness, look for the green/red wire and green/black wire. Then cut them and crimp them together. That should solve your problem! Let me know if it works.
